How do I delete messages from my Trash and Junk Folders empty?
The GroupWise system is set up to automatically delete message from those folders based on the date they were placed in the folder. Click here for information about the auto settings.

Does GroupWise have a calendar? The GroupWise Calendar offers opportunity for the AASU community to schedule appointments through this email client. The calendar has the option of toggling the view for tasks, appointments and notes can only be done in the week and month views of the GroupWise Calendar. Click her for detailed information about the GroupWise Calendar.

How do I create and save a personal group? The following instructions are to create and save a personal groups in the GroupWise Client:

  1. Click on the "Contacts" tab.
  2. Click on the "New Group" button.
  3. Enter a Name for the Group.
  4. Click on the "Add" button.
  5. Select the appropriate address book from the drop down.
  6. Locate the person you wish to add and double-click their name OR click once on their name and then click the "To" button on the top of the window. The name will appear in the column on the right.
  7. Follow steps 5 - 6 for each contact you wish to add to the group OR click "New Contact" to enter the information for someone who is not listed in your address books.
  8. Click "OK".

Your group should appear at the top of your Contacts listing, or under your Frequent Contacts address book. We have found that groups created directly in the Address Book are not keeping those addresses from the Novell GroupWise address book. You must select Contacts to begin this process.

GroupWise IMAP Settings When accessing the GroupWise email server with other non GroupWise software applications the incoming and outgoing server is snet.armstrong.edu. When using other email clients the spam filters at the server level will not apply, the calendaring system for individuals and departments and archiving capabilities will not be available. Please note that CIS can only support the GroupWise email clients.

What is the Junk Folder? Email messages that are marked as spam are automatically placed in the folder. To turn on Junk Mail Handling for Groupwise Email:

  • Open your Groupwise Email client.
  • Select Tools from the top menu.
  • Select Junk Mail Handling from the Tools menu.
  • A box will appear with options for handling Junk Mail. On the Settings tab, select the check box next to Enable Junk List
  • Click "OK" to save your settings.

All messages marked as {Spam?} should now go to your Junk folder. The Junk folder will be automatically cleaned out every 14 days and all messages deleted permanently.

How do I set up my Spell Checker? The GroupWise email client is not able to add new words to the spell checker word list when WT61US.UWL is set at "Read Only". The file is set to "Read Only" during the install process, but can be updated for Windows 2000 and XP users through the NAL Window by clicking on the GW_DirList_LDAP_Update application. Instructions below are how to manually update the application:

  1. User must be logged in as Administrator.
  2. Double click on "My Computer" icon on the Desktop.
  3. Double click on "C:" drive.
  4. Double click on "Documents and Settings".
  5. Double click on "Administrator", then click on "Tools" in the menu bar and select "Folder Options".
  6. Select the "View" tab and select the radio button next to 'Show Hidden Files and Folders." Click "Apply" and "OK."
  7. Double click the "Local Settings" folder.
  8. Double click the "Applications Data" folder.
  9. Double click the "GroupWise" Folder.
  10. Right click on the last GroupWise file "WT61US.UWL" and select "Properties". On the "General" Tab, deselect "Read Only" and click "Apply" and "OK"
