How do I add contacts?
 
  1. Click Add a Contact.
  2. Type part or the entire name of the person you want to add, click Next , click the name in the Search Results list, then click Add .

or

Type the user ID of the person, then click Add .

or

Click Advanced , click Begins With, Contains, or Equals from the drop-down list next to a field, type the information you are looking for in the field, then click Next.Select the user you want from the Search Results list, then click Add.

How do I send an Instant Message from the GroupWise Client?
 

1. Click the person you want to send an instant message to,

or

Click Send Message then click Find User button to search for a person who is not in your Contact List.

2. Click OK.
3. Type the message, then click the arrow button or press Enter on the keyboard.

How do I send an Instant Message from GroupWise Messenger?
 

1.  Double-click the name of the person you want to send an instant message to.

2. Type the message, then click the arrow button or press Enter on the keyboard.

How do I use Emoticons in an Instant Message?
 

1. In an open conversation, click , then click the image that conveys your feelings.

or Type any of the following keystrokes to represent an emoticon:

When you use the keystrokes rather than selecting the image, the emoticon image appears when you press Enter to send your message. To remind yourself of the keystrokes w hen typing a message, click Edit > Emoticons.

How do I hold a Group Conversation?
 

1. Double-click a user in your Contact List.

2. Click Actions , then click Add Another User to This Conversation .

3. Click a user (or Ctrl+click multiple users) in your Contact List, then click OK.

or

Click Find User button to search for users who are not in your Contact List.

You can also Ctrl+click multiple users in your Contact List and press Enter on the keyboard, to begin a group conversation.

How do I change my Status?
 

1. Click the status bar (where your name appears under the menu bar).

2. Click the status you w ant other users to see next to your name in their Contact Lists: Online, Busy, Away, Appear Offline.

3. Custom Status allows you to add, edit and remove personalized status messages.

How do I build a contact list within GroupWise Messenger?

 

You can organize your Contact List by dragging contacts and folders to the location you want them. Or, you can use the following steps:

Click Tools , then click Organize Contacts.

Click Contact names , then click Move Up or Move Down to change the position in the list.

To add a folder, click Add Folder , then type the folder name.

To move a contact to a folder, drag the contact to the folder, or click the contact, click Actions , click Move , select the folder from the drop-down list, then click OK.

Click Close.

How do I block others from contacting me via GroupWise Messenger?
 

Before blocking others, you should first build your allow list and then either block contacts individually, or use the everyone else feature.

•  Click on Tools
•  Select Options
•  Select the Privacy option listed in above image
•  Select <Everyone Else> in your allowed window at left
•  Click the Block >> button
•  Click Apply
•  Click OK

TIP: To quickly build your allow list, click the Add button to bring up a list of your current contacts already added to your main contacts view window. Once the Privacy Add dialog box appears, select the first contact while holding down the shift key on your keyboard, then use the down arrow to select all other contacts on this list. After all contacts are selected, click the OK button to add these contacts to your separate allow list.

What do users on my block list see in their Contacts window?
 

If you are listed in the Contacts for a user on your block list, your user icon will appear no differently than any other user, unless you initiate contact with them.

If you initiate contact with a user that you've previously placed on your block list, your status will appear as "unknown" in their contact list from that point forward, unless you remove them from your block list.

How does a broadcast message work in GroupWise Messenger?
 

You can send a broadcast message with GroupWise Messenger by clicking on Actions > Send Broadcast. You will then be prompted to choose contacts from your approved contacts list, or you can use the find user button to browse for someone not on your contacts list already.

A broadcast message is like a one-way instant message, you can send to others, but they can't respond back without opening a new, separate instant message.
